• Lifestyle preferences: smoking habits, pet preferences, sleep schedule, cleanliness level
• Room details: budget range, preferred locations, move-in date, room photos
• Profile photo (avatar)
• Messages you send to other users through our chat feature
• Interests and hobbies

How We Use Your Information

• Create and manage your CoLive account
• Display your profile to other users seeking roommates
• Facilitate the mutual-like matching system
• Enable messaging between matched users
• Show your preferred locations on the Map View
• Send you notifications about likes, matches, and messages

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

With Other Users

• Your public profile (nickname, photo, occupation, age range, lifestyle details, room preferences) is visible to other CoLive users
• Your preferred locations appear as pins on the Map View
• Messages you send are visible only to the matched user you are chatting with

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

• Row-level security (RLS) policies so users can only access data they are authorized to see
• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
• Private storage buckets for chat media with signed URL access
• Regular security reviews of our platform
• No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights & Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Access & Control

• View and edit your profile information at any time through the Profile page
• Update or delete your profile photo
• Modify your room details, preferences, and contact information
• Remove your preferred locations from the map
• Unlike profiles to unmatch from previous connections

Likes & Matching System

Our platform uses a mutual-like system to connect users. Important privacy notes:

• Other users cannot see that you have 'liked' their profile until they also like you (mutual match)
• Once matched, both users can see the match and begin chatting
• You receive 3 free likes per day; additional likes may be purchased
• Like history is stored to power the matching system and notifications
• You can unlike a profile at any time, which will unmatch you

Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser storage mechanisms to improve your experience:

• Authentication session tokens to keep you logged in
• Recent map search history stored locally on your device
• Tab navigation state to restore your last visited section
• Theme preferences (light/dark mode)
• You can clear local storage and cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect your ability to stay logged in.

Third-Party Services

Our platform integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google Maps API — for location search and map display (Google Privacy Policy)
• Google OAuth — for sign-in with Google (Google Privacy Policy)
• Supabase — for database, authentication, and file storage (Supabase Privacy Policy)

Minors

CoLive is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. Our minimum age range starts at 18 years old.

If you believe a minor has created an account on our platform, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to remove the account and associated data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will:
